Events such as the 2025 CWA Summit in Salt Lake City or Vertical-Pro in 2023 are not only platforms for showcasing our climbing innovations, but also crucial meeting points with key figures in the global industry. Among them, we had the pleasure of speaking with prominent international personalities like Alessandro Di Cato of the IFSC (International Federation of Sport Climbing), who experienced firsthand the transformative potential of the Lizcore® ecosystem.
These conversations led us to reflect: beyond the direct benefits for climbing gyms and individual climbers, what can Lizcore® offer to national and international federations like the IFSC? The answer is: data and structure.
A Bridge Between the Everyday Gym and Official Competition
Most climbers train and develop their skills daily in gyms—outside the official competition circuit. Lizcore® acts as a bridge, capturing objective performance and activity data exactly where it happens:
- Dynamic, Expanded Rankings: Imagine national or even international rankings based not only on isolated competition results, but also on continuous, verified performance across thousands of boulders and routes in the Lizcore® network. This would offer a far more complete picture of an athlete’s current form and progression.
- Talent Identification & Tracking: Regional and national federations could use aggregated and anonymized data (always respecting privacy) to spot emerging talent in different areas and monitor athletes’ development in granular detail. Selectors could view performance scores for every young climber in their community—even those not yet in official competition—making data-driven scouting possible.
- Professionalization & Traceability for Route Setters: With Lizcore®’s “Routesetter” profile, federations could maintain a structured database of route-setting professionals, review their experience and style, and gather route feedback (via app data), simplifying selection for official events and fostering career growth.
- Objective Data for Coaches: Athletes could easily share their verified training data (volume, intensity, route types) with coaches and federation teams, enabling more precise, personalized training plans.
Toward a Connected Ecosystem
Lizcore®’s vision extends beyond individual gyms. We aim to be the technological backbone that links every actor in the climbing ecosystem: climbers, gyms, route setters, brands, and the governing bodies of our sport. Standardizing data collection and providing analytic tools unlocks a world of possibilities for sports management at all levels.
“Imagine knowing every climbing data point for athletes: which holds they train on, their strongest styles, which route setter equips the best holds for each style, which setter builds the hardest boulder problems… Data makes our sport even more professional, and our performance can only keep improving.”
— Edgar Casanovas, CEO of Lizcore®
The positive reception and interest from international figures at the 2025 CWA Summit encourage us to keep exploring these avenues. We firmly believe that technology and data can play a pivotal role in the structured growth and professionalization of sport climbing worldwide.
We’re open to conversations with federations and sporting bodies interested in exploring how the Lizcore® platform can help them achieve their goals. The future of organized climbing also depends on technological innovation.
